Brand Evolution: I just had multiple brandgasms.

No, seriously I didn’t know a brandgasm was even possible until a few minutes ago.  I, quite by accident, turned feelings of puzzled frustration into a squealing, multiple brandgasm!

Give me a moment to backtrack as I think that I started with the happy ending instead of beginning at, well.. the beginning.

We’ll call this foreplay.

Meet Imperial Gold.  Imperial Gold was my first gold ribbon order that I placed. The photo on the interwebs made Imperial Gold “appear” to be the *perfect* gold ribbon to blend into the brand improvements I’m in the midst of. Like a kid on Christmas morning, I tore into the brown cardboard box that contained the three rolls of perfection that would surely lend the rich, warm tones that I yearned for.

…….and like a kid on Christmas morning that received a neatly wrapped box of “lovepats”,  I was disappointed.  ((True story, I’ll have to share someday, perhaps when I’ve come to terms with it in therapy.))  Imperial Gold had proven to be more of a green tinged brass.  Ick.

Foreplay v2.

Meet Antique Gold.  Interwebs promised yet another spectacular specimen of gold. This time with trepidation, I ordered only one roll of this satin ribbon.

Antique Gold was an improvement, but I wasn’t entirely certain that it was THE GOLD.

Until today.

Oh. Yeah.  Wait.  Back up.

Delayed gratification.

I decided to withhold an opinion until I received my new branded totes…. FOR NEARLY THREE WEEKS. ((It was a painful, agonizing three weeks that seriously felt more like 3 months as I would glance across the room at my new spools of satin ribbon like a fickle bitch in heat, eager to mate, but less-than-thrilled with her suitors)) Sigh. Drama much?

Ok. So the Antique Gold better matches the gold imprinting on the totes from Rice Studio Supply. ((In the spirit of full disclosure (it’s the law), I have a no business relationship with Rice Studio Supply)) …but I’m still not 100% in love so I put them to a little side by side comparison. I’m teetering on the edge of obsessive-compulsive, yes.. I know….

Still not in love…..frustration mounts. Until this happened….

Wait for it.

Prolong the moment…..

It was almost as though the clouds parted and angels sang while the earth trembled beneath me…..

As it was quite by accident that I fused the two ribbons together and had the thought to try them both together.

Satisfied, basking in the after-glow,

AFTERTHOUGHT NO. 1:  I thought I might mention how I happened to have fused the ribbons together:  I have this handy-dandy ribbon cutter sealer doo-dad that is a complete godsend if you’ve ever dealt with satin ribbons and their ever-fraying edges. Yes. Slightly compulsive. I know.

AFTERTHOUGHT NO. 2:  Cate has been an absolute trooper throughout as she guides me through this phase of brand refining. Changes are happening, some subtle, some not-so-much but as we continue you’ll see the complete package come together refined and well-polished.

Facebook messages with screen caps as I search for the perfect gold, the perfect branded flash drive, the perfect tissue paper, the perfect such’n’such and doo-dad and thingie…. ad nauseam. Hoping she won’t add any ding-dong factor to my bill.
